Lexie's 6th Birthday !

Our little Lexie turned 6 on the 28th of December. My, my, how time flies! Every parent says it, but it is hard to believe that she's already 6!

We opted for more of a family celebration this year. Lexie woke up on her birthday with the kitchen fully decorated with pink and yellow streamers and a birthday banner. We celebrated breakfast with pancakes, complete with rainbow sprinkles on top! Then, for lunch, Lexie requested chicken wings, "angel" eggs otherwise known as "deviled" eggs - but we don't give the devil credit for anything : ) , shells and cheese, broccoli and corn. It was all very yummy. Afterwards we had her birthday cake. She was quite surprised with the "Candy Land" cake that Leah and I made for her. Later in the day, I made her strawberry smoothies, one of her favorite treats!

Lexie received two privileges for her 6th birthday.

1. NO MORE NAPS ! Wahoo! I think this was her favorite.

2. A weekly allowance that comes with responsibility.... CHORES!
And grandmas, don't worry, they're easy chores. The majority of them are things that she is already doing.
I also made 3 little jars for her to divide her money into; one for giving, one for saving and one for spending. You can probably guess which jar Lexie likes the most.

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY LEXIE

Christmas Morning

The morning started off with Lexie waking everyone up about 6:30 am. They did not hesitate getting up. They rushed into the living room and were overwhelmed with all the new presents under the tree. We started by first putting all the "baby Jesus's" in their rightful nativities. Each girl had a baby Jesus to put in His place of rest. Greg shared a short version of the Christmas story and then he started handing out gifts. They were all thrilled and so excited with everything they received, and thankful, which blesses my heart most of all. I had prayed the night before that they would have thankful hearts, no matter what. And they did!

Our Christmas Tree, Our Christmas Tree,
how lovely are your branches!

The girls received dolls that look just like each of them, matching hair color and eye color. They each had a card in the Christmas tree that gave them a scavenger hunt clue to find their doll.

We had a very Merry Christmas this year.
We hope you did too!
God Bless!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Here are some pictures that we have taken from different Christmas activities. I hope you enjoy them!

The girls all dressed up and ready for Sunday Morning Church Service

The girls requested to go and see Baby Jesus. How could we say no?

We had our first snow the other day. So, the girls had to go out and play in the 1 inch of snow! They had to bundle up real good because it was like 15 degrees outside. Brrr!

We went to see Santa and the girls wanted to take him gifts. Lexie drew him a picture of her and Santa with a Bible verse. Leah took him a Christmas bear. I was so proud of them that they wanted to give. They said, "He's always giving to others, so we should give to him."

Merry Christmas to All!
Celebrate Baby Jesus!

Church Christmas Play

We had our Church Christmas play last Sunday. Lexie, Leah and Mary Ellen were all 3 in the play. Lexie had a few speaking parts and the other two sang in the kids choir. They did an excellent job, in my opinion anyway!
My good friend, Amy, recorded the play and posted some of the songs on her blog. I will send you there to see the video. I recorded it too, but I'm not as computer savvy as she is! I've got to learn how to burn from our recorder to DVDs.

Christmas Time is Coming!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at our house this year. The girls participated in some homeschool activities and they really enjoyed those. We spent Thanksgiving day together as a family. We enjoyed cooking together and Greg made his traditional cornbread turkey stuffing, and it was very yummy!

It never takes us long to "get in the spirit" for Christmas. And obviously so, since we believe that THAT very spirit lives in our hearts all year long. Anyway, on Friday we started decorating our home for Christmas. We all had a blast and the house looks so cozy with all the decor up! I'm looking forward to hosting friends and hopefully family! I am also preparing to serve others in our community. This is my favorite thing about Christmas. I love giving to others. We are trying to teach our children that it is better to give than to receive. So... this morning, they went through their toys and put many of them in Christmas gift bags to be given away. They will deliver the toys in a couple of weeks, directly to the children.

I am so thankful that Christ came as a baby in a manger 2010 years ago.
I am looking forward to what God has for our family this Christmas
and what HE wants to teach us!

Charlotte's Web

Last night, Lexie, Leah and I went to see the play, "Charlotte's Web." A nearby highschool drama team was putting on the performance. Needless to say, the girls really enjoyed it! I did too! We own the movie and so the girls knew all the characters and the story plot. Leah struggled with talking quite loud during the performance. She was constantly asking questions; "How did they do that? Is Wilbur really going to die? Is Charlotte really going to die? Hey, that doesn't look like the Fair Grounds, where's the pony ride?" and so on...

And Charlotte the spider

After the show the characters came out in the aisle and did the "chicken dance." Leah had a blast dancing with the goose and the gander. By the way, they were hilarious in the show!

The girls waiting for the show to start with their program!

We had a lot of fun, just the 3 of us!
