St. Patrick's Day Homeschool Fellowship

Today we had our St. Patrick's Day Homeschool Fellowship at the Iberia City Park. We had 5 families attend, that's a total of 16 kids and their parents. We all wore green clothe and I gave out an award to the the kid that was the most festive, (all the kids voted). I gave the winner a certificate with a one dollar bill on it. I told him he had to use the money to serve someone else, just like St. Patrick would have done.
We then ate lots of yummy green food. We had green kool-aid, mint pudding, clover cookies, spinach wrap sandwiches, pistachio pudding, green bean casserole, pear sauce, broccoli with ranch, and green grapes. Yummy!
We then went on a clover hunt and finally found a very tiny patch of clover. I taught the kids about the Trinity and how St. Patrick compared the Trinity to a 3 leaf clover.
At the end, I read "Green Eggs and Ham." Needless to say, we had a blast!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone out there!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Just wanted to thank all those of you out there that remembered my 28th birthday. I received lots of cards, phone calls, etc. Thank you so much. I am so blessed with lots of precious family and friends! I thank God for another year of health and pure joy being His child.

My New Maids

The girls have always helped me with washing, rinsing and drying the dishes. But today, Lexie and Leah teamed up and did the dishes all by themselves. Leah washed and Lexie rinsed and stacked the dishes. They actually did a pretty good job, too. I hope we can keep this up. The hard part is keeping the kitchen in a place where they can always do the dishes!

Lexie Reads a Book

I have been teaching Lexie phonics for two years now. I have been waiting and waiting for the moment when she would get excited about reading and want to do it on her own. Today was that day!
I asked her to pick a story from her Phonics Reader school book. This book contains about 15 short stories, each with about 10 sentences. She not only read one story, but all of them... the entire book, with very little assistance.
I am so proud of her! I'm definitely a proud mama today!
Thank you, Lord!

No training wheels!

Greg and I have been working with Lexie and Leah as they are learning to ride their bikes with no training wheels. Our front yard has a nice slope, complete with "mole" hills, so that they can practice going down through the yard. Today, Leah tried riding in the parking lot. She did pretty good. Lexie wasn't interested today. Maybe tomorrow. A few more weeks, and they should both have it down pretty good. It should make for an interesting summer!

First Children's Bible Quiz

Lexie and Leah participated in their first Nazarene Children's Bible Quiz on March 5th. I was so proud of them. They were the youngest kids there and did great for their experience and age. I look forward to watching them grow older and hopefully fall in love with Bible quizzing.

Sorry no pics of the girls with their medals. I have 3000 pics on my camera card and it takes forever to download! I hope to get a new card soon! However, you can not buy such a thing in Iberia, MO! Ha!

Catching up !

I realize it's been a while since I have posted on our blog. The last month has been quite crazy! We have definitely had our battles with winter colds and sickness. I believe I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! Ha!

Keep our link in your "favorites" list and come back ever now and then... I just might post some pics!
