Church Christmas Play

We had our Church Christmas play last Sunday. Lexie, Leah and Mary Ellen were all 3 in the play. Lexie had a few speaking parts and the other two sang in the kids choir. They did an excellent job, in my opinion anyway!

My good friend, Amy, recorded the play and posted some of the songs on her blog. I will send you there to see the video. I recorded it too, but I'm not as computer savvy as she is! I've got to learn how to burn from our recorder to DVDs.

Christmas Time is Coming!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at our house this year. The girls participated in some homeschool activities and they really enjoyed those. We spent Thanksgiving day together as a family. We enjoyed cooking together and Greg made his traditional cornbread turkey stuffing, and it was very yummy!

It never takes us long to "get in the spirit" for Christmas. And obviously so, since we believe that THAT very spirit lives in our hearts all year long. Anyway, on Friday we started decorating our home for Christmas. We all had a blast and the house looks so cozy with all the decor up! I'm looking forward to hosting friends and hopefully family! I am also preparing to serve others in our community. This is my favorite thing about Christmas. I love giving to others. We are trying to teach our children that it is better to give than to receive. So... this morning, they went through their toys and put many of them in Christmas gift bags to be given away. They will deliver the toys in a couple of weeks, directly to the children.

I am so thankful that Christ came as a baby in a manger 2010 years ago.

Charlotte's Web

Last night, Lexie, Leah and I went to see the play, "Charlotte's Web." A nearby highschool drama team was putting on the performance. Needless to say, the girls really enjoyed it! I did too! We own the movie and so the girls knew all the characters and the story plot. Leah struggled with talking quite loud during the performance. She was constantly asking questions; "How did they do that? Is Wilbur really going to die? Is Charlotte really going to die? Hey, that doesn't look like the Fair Grounds, where's the pony ride?" and so on...

After the show the characters came out in the aisle and did the "chicken dance." Leah had a blast dancing with the goose and the gander. By the way, they were hilarious in the show!

Molly and Mickey Mouse

Molly sure is growing so fast. She is crawling wherever she wants to go. The other day she climbed up on the girl's exercise trampoline and then onto the couch. That was quite frightening! I won't tell you what happened after that! Anyway...

She is enjoying Mary Ellen's "last year's" Christmas gift, the Mickey Mouse rocker. We all think she will be walking before too long. She loves to walk with assistance.

She is also cutting tooth number 3 and 4 on top. I'll just be glad when she sleeps through the night. You would think with just having one nap during the day that she would sleep better at night.... not so much.

Lexie came to me the other day and told me she had a loose tooth. I thought,"No way!" But she was right. And on top of that, or should I say, behind that, she already has her new adult tooth coming in. I just had to share this picture. It shows both bottom middle teeth coming in "behind" her baby teeth.

Can you say "braces?" If the finances are there, we'll definitely be seeing an orthodontist in the future! Joy, joy!

The Pumpkin Patch

We try to always go to the pumpkin patch each fall. This year we went to one right here in Iberia; Taber Farms and Pumpkin Patch. We enjoyed being able to go when our family was in to visit. We found lots of gourds and pumpkins of every size and color. The girls also enjoyed a straw maze.

They are looking forward to trick or treating and dressing up. Leah plans to be Woody from Toy Story and Lexie is going to be Jessie from Toy Story. Mary Ellen and Molly are going to be pumpkins! Hopefully I'll get pics up soon of their costumes.

First Post for October...

It's been awhile since I've posted on our blog. Guess I've got some catchin' up to do. It's been a busy month.

We spent the last week of September in Monticello, Kentucky with our family. We had a great time and the girls came back completely spoiled! : ) While we were there, Uncle Harold taught Lexie and Leah how to ride their bicycles without training wheels. They've still got aways to go, but thanks to Uncle Harold, they're further down the road.... literally, I guess!

The girls also got to spend special time with Aunt Liz and go to my alma mater. Liz teaches math at the high school I graduated from. The girls thought it was pretty neat to see where their momma went to school. They had fun making "pipe cleaner" spiders and pin wheels in her class room.

We also went to visit Aunt Linda and Cousin Libby at their house. The girls had never been and Leah, especially, wanted to know where Aunt Linda lived at. So, we went. Special thanks to Cousin Libby for letting us shop through her attic. Leah is especially grateful, due to her many antique Toy Story finds.

We also visited my Great Aunt Verna Lee. We had such a good visit, and like always, I shared with her some of my canned goods and she had an old quilt for me that she had found. She just recently had a bilateral mastectomy. Thankfully, all went well and she is doing great now.

Shortly after we returned home, we received a phone call that Greg's second cousin had been killed in a car accident. She was just 18. As you can imagine, this was and has been difficult for their family. But we are trusting in God and asking Him to restore their family.

Just a couple days after Greg returned from the funeral, our family came to visit us here in Missouri. Greg's mom, his aunt Linda and second cousin Lane and my mom, came to visit and watch the girls while we were gone to our annual ministry retreat. We were gone 3 days and we had a great time. It was good to get away and get some rest and a renewed spirit. The girls had a blast with their grandmas, aunt and cousin.

We are currently trying to get back in the swing of things. I am already looking forward to the fall activities of the church and the winter holidays coming up. God has been so good to us and it is our desire to continue to serve Him each day!
